ORPHANAGE IN KYRYGZSTAN

Orphanage in Kenya

In October of 2001, I flew to Kyrgyzstan to go to Kara Balta Children's Home and two other Christian schools.  While we were riding I kept hearing a cry in my spirit, so I asked what was on the other side of the mountain.  I was told that children were living in the streets, and would probably freeze to death.  when I got home I began to ask God what I could do.  I started raising money for the children, and by December 10th 2001, enough had been given to purchase an old, four room Russian Clinic.  then soneone was hired to build the beds.  Forty nine children were brouht into the oprhanage.  These were children who had been living in man holes and used the steam pipes to stay warm.  The children were covered in lice, scabies, and ringworms.  We had to shave their heads and some had to have the ringworms out cut off of them.  We had to burn their clothes several times to effectively treat them for lice.  There were 15 children to each section of the orphanage.  When they lived on the streets, the older children would steal food from the younger ones.  Some of them would even sell their bodies to get food.  These children were not on the streets because of drugs, but due to wars in that country, and because their parents had been killed or were in prison.  Some of the children had been abandoned.

When we brought the children in we had no kitchen, so we had to cook in iron pots three times a day, over an open fire.  We began to grow and had the opportunity to buy a two story building next door.  The DHS Kids Club raised the money for this.  We were able to remodel the building also.  We now have plenty of room for the 59 children and 26 workers.

At the age of 21, the young people have to leave the children's home.  My vision is to purchase a house and have house parents that can help them transition into adulthood.  Those young people will receive vocational training or attend community colleges.  We will pay for books, lodging and clothing.  The house parents will teach them about financing and budgeting and help guide them spiritually.  They will be able to stay there until they have saved money and can purchase a place for themselves.  Tommi Jessup  has been with us at the orphanage one year to assist the young people with their transition.  Our vision is to buy a house to fulfill these needs.

Vision:  That each child shall know Jesus and have a personal relationship with Him.  These are children who had no hope.  Now they have hope and a future.  We want each child to get an education and go to trade school or a university.  We have a Pastor there working with the kids and being a mentor to them.  I can see God picking up these diamonds out of the rough and polishing them, for they shall be a mighty Army for God taking Asia for Jesus.
